Alfredo Carta, DJ and music curator
How I got started.
I have been a DJ for 15 years. I started playing in small venues out of a love for music and, over time, realised I wanted to specialise in events. Today, I DJ at weddings, private parties and corporate events, and continue to play in bars and other venues.
For the past seven years, I have been artistic director at the Tartarughino in Porto Rotondo. I am part of the Radiolina group and play at its events in northern Sardinia. I combine both roles with weddings and private events.
Getting to know you before the event.
Sometimes we first meet over the phone or on a video call; other times, during a venue visit. I always try to visit the venue with the organiser, even if I have played there before. This lets me explain where I will install the sound system and understand how the spaces will be used for that event.
I have my own sound system and adapt it to the needs of the evening. When a stage or a larger setup is needed, I work with a trusted production partner who also helps with specific requirements. I can add saxophone, violin or percussion to the DJ set, arranging and coordinating the musicians.
Venues and clients.
Venues I have played at include Sella & Mosca in Alghero, Paradise Beach in Rena Majore and the Aethos hotel in Cannigione. I work with clients from across Europe and, in recent years, increasingly from the United States.
When preparing an event, I start with what the organiser tells me: musical tastes, guests and the schedule. As I play, I also choose tracks based on how the guests respond. To talk about your event, tell me what music you like and who will be there.
